Ep. 073: Fábio M. Barreto on Overcoming the Fear of Finding the Best Words

Fábio M. Barreto is a fiction and science fiction author and translator. He was a movie journalist for 20 years in Brazil. His debut novel “Filhos do Fim do Mundo” was awarded best novel of the year in Brazil, in 2013. He teaches two online creative writing class and hosts a writing podcast called “Gente Que Escreve”, both in Brazilian Portuguese. As a translator, he has worked with Neil Gaiman and George Martin, and dozens of Netflix movies and shows. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two kids.

I also talk about money, what I made and how I made it because I really believe in transparency on the financial side of writing. I also talk about what I got done and what I left undone. I talk about my burnout and how I’m addressing it in 2018, and I make plans for the future!

Ep. 071: Zach Bohannon on Getting Out of the Writing Chair Occasionally

Zach Bohannon talks about co-writing, the new Scrivener, launch plans and mailing lists.

Zach is a horror, science fiction, and fantasy author. His breakout post-apocalyptic zombie series, Empty Bodies, was an Amazon #1 bestseller. In addition, he is also the co-owner of Molten Universe Media, where he co-writes with author J. Thorn. The duo also hosts a unique retreat for authors called Authors on a Train.

He lives in Tennessee with his wife, daughter, and German shepherd. He loves hockey, heavy metal, video games, reading, and he doesn’t trust a beer he can see through. He’s a retired drummer and has had a beard since 2003—long before it was cool.

Ep. 068: Antonia Murphy on Humor and Truth in Memoir

Antonia Murphy talks about her memoir, Dirty Chick, and various gross things that happen on a farm that might kill you. Antonia is also the founder and director of The Bach (rhymes with “catch,”) an ethical escort agency in Whangarei, New Zealand. A San Francisco native, she now lives on a small New Zealand farm with her partner Patrice and their combined brood of six kids.
