The March for Women’s Lives

April 23, 2004

This is why I’m going.

Molly Ivins:

Over 335 new state laws restricting a woman’s right to choose have been passed in the last eight years. Eighty-seven percent of U.S. counties have no safe abortion provider. Twenty-four states have mandatory delays and state-prepared anti-choice propaganda. Anti-condom policies not only result in unwanted pregnancies but an increase in AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Right-wing legislation gives fertilized eggs more rights than women. Doctors are prevented from giving accurate information about birth control and abortion rights to their patients. Anti-choice terrorists continue to murder and bomb, intimidate and harass, but the Department of Homeland Security has no time for those terrorists. This is for our lives. Be there.

Extra Prayers for Great Marching Weather….God forbid you should have to buy shoes in DC…you’ll need ROOM in that suitcase for the cashmere you are going to learn to spin…
    bwah ha ha…
Oh, and lugging the laptop? I wish I hadn’t…major pain. You of course will find a way to make it completely effortless, I’m sure!

You rock so hard. I wish I were there with you, Beth, and thousands of bold, beautiful women. I’ll try to think up some good knitting themed chants.

Go Rachel! I live in one of those counties. There’s no law against abortion, but strangely enough, no one in the MD ass(otiation)is willing to do one, and the local catholic hospital is, um, unsupportive. Another reason why I go to the next county north for most medical services. I don’t want to support the twits here!

I didn’t know that Barbara Bush was pro-choice, which once again makes her cool in my book. It’s a great article and now, because I have PMS I’m going to cry.
    Go get ’em girl!

Thanks for mentioning the March – I was there, too. I wished I had made my own sign: Knitting ADHD Moms for Choice! I swatched Rowan Summer Tweed on the grass of the Mall watching speakers on the Jumbotron. What a moving event. Now VOTE everybody!!!

    Hello everyone.
I really want to go to the March this month, but I don’t have a place to stay. Does anyone want to split a hotel room? I’m 25, a non-smoker, and perfectly sane. Please e-mail if interested! ๐Ÿ™‚
    xoxoxo,
    Holly Patricia
