Write More, Worry Less:

A Planning Workshop That Celebrates Who You Already Are.

Because a new year ≠ a new you

You don’t have to become a different writer (ever). You're already the writer you need to be. In this gentle and encouraging 2-hour workshop, you'll discover how to plan your most sustainable writing year ever – without changing your personality, your schedule, or your caffeine habits.

This Isn't About Becoming More Disciplined

It's about being strategic with who you already are.

Truly: You don't need another workshop about writing every single day, crushing your goals, or maintaining iron-clad discipline. You need a gentle, intentional approach that works with your real life, your real energy, and your real writing process.

The Truth About Productive Writers

Productive writers aren't more disciplined than you. They're not more organized. They're not working harder.

They've just learned to:

- Work with their resistance instead of fighting it

- Create sustainable practices that don't require superhuman willpower

- Navigate emotional discomfort without letting it stop them

You can learn this, too.

Who I Am:

I'm the internationally bestselling author of more than two dozen books, including thrillers (under R.H. Herron), mainstream fiction, feminist romance, memoir, and nonfiction about writing. I received my MFA in writing from Mills College, Oakland, and I've taught writing extension workshops at both UC Berkeley and Stanford. A New Zealand citizen as well as an American, I live in Wellington, New Zealand with my banjo-playing wife and brick-eating dog.

What You'll Get In This

2-Hour Workshop

You'll Get:

- A strategic approach to working with your natural rhythms

- Gentle guidance for finding your sustainable writing pace

- Practical tools for planning your year without overwhelming yourself

- Permission to be semi-organized (because perfect systems always fail)

- Clear methods for setting abundant, achievable goals

One live Zoom session

Our workshop will meet once, live on Zoom, for two hours. The session will be recorded and you'll get the replay! But it's fun and exciting to be there in person, so I encourage you to show up if you can.

January 4th, 2025:

Saturday , 11 am - 1pm PT (2pm - 4pm ET) - 2 hours

Why Is This After the New Year?

Doing this after the new year has started is intentional.

First of all, you're WAY too busy in December for this kind of thing .

Second, we're practicing holding goals and timelines lightly. Gracefully.

Nothing has to be perfect, especially not the start of a new year.

What You'll Learn

- Why acceptance (not discipline) is the key to consistent writing

- How to plan within your actual schedule, not a hopeful one

- A kind approach to using your past writing data to plan future projects

- Strategic methods for setting goals that honor your real life

- Gentle ways to handle resistance without fighting yourself
