Not feeling up for much today, either. The well-wishes mean so much, though. Thank you!
Only this point:
Recently Cari had a post about the song you won’t admit to liking, even though you boogie to it in private. This is along the same line – I have a new addiction to a very embarrassing food.
You know when you’re sitting at the beach or in the park, and you see young mothers feeding their children out of those little plastic pre-stuffed child-food bags? And then you see them sneak a little something into their own mouths? In my mind, that always smacked of eating cat food somehow. It’s just not right. We’re not SUPPOSED to eat baby food.
Oh, my friend, yes. (Deep sigh) Yes, we are.
May I suggest Gerbers Graduates Fruit Juice Snacks? They’re (shhh!) awesome. They’re like gummy candy but with less stick and more sugar. They rock. I bought three boxes the other day at Target and felt a little guilty about it. I was depriving needy children of their sugar high.
Seriously. Go get some. Plus they’re rich in vitamin C. Yup. Those moms on the park bench knew what they were doing. Now you. ‘Fess up.

You crack me up! Sneaking cat food?! ugh, now I’ll gag whenever I see some mother sneak a treat. But then again, I used to like eating Vick’s VapoRub right out out of the jar. Thank goodness my kids are all grown up and get sick at their houses, not mine! Just say no to Vicks! (eating it, that is).
Anne says
Oh, sweetie, hope you’re well a week from today!
Looking forward to breakfast…

Okay, I’ll fess up. Mine’s along the same lines. I have an excuse though… See, I paint, and I need baby food jars for my turpentine and mediums etc. So I buy baby food vanilla custard, banana pudding, dutch apple–the baby desserts–and I enjoy them thoroughly, thank you very much. But it’s really only to get the empty jar, I swear. I’m doing it for my art! Um…and cause I really like puddings.

Rachael, don’t feel bad, you’re part of a trend! You are even a Target Market for the baby food companies. It’s true, they’ve discovered that lots of adults grab babyfood and eat it as a quickie at-your-desk-lunch. At least they do in Germany, where I saw a TV report about this.
Anyway, I’ve got fab recipes for carrot bars and plum spice cake with…you guessed it.
Ann says
So…where do Goldfish crackers fall on the adults-eating-toddler-food acceptability continuum? Hopefully far, far from the cat food end. 😉

Fruit juice snacks?!? YUM, here I come!!!! Along the same lines, have you tried Fruit Gushers (they are in the fruit snacks section of the grocery store). They have some sort of thick liquid interior that splooshes out when you bite into it! They are yummy, and they would probably be excellent nourishment for flu-afflicted types like you! Feel better soon. Are you visiting your parents for Turkey Day?

Glad to hear you are feeling a little less ACK.. Also enjoyed seeing your new Venice Ladies shot.. Someday, someday I will make it there..

Rachel…sorry I haven’t left my “Get Well Wishes!” til now…glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. I’ve been thinking about your first “I don’t feel well” post when you said you had gotten a flu shot 10 days before and it takes 14 days for the shot to protect you…I got mine 10 days ago today and lots of people around me are sick…hope I can dodge the germs! Hugs!

i love space food sticks. most people over here say “what the **** are THOSE?!” they sell them in woolworth’s now. but i don’t eat them very often due to the dairy content. hope you get well soon.

When I was a poor 18-year-old college dropout, I survived on jars of baby food for a while (the pureed fruit). Now it doesn’t seem to make sense; tiny jars of processed food couldn’t possibly have been cheaper than buying some kind of grown-up food. I have no idea what I was thinking, but I do remember they were pretty yummy. I hope you feel better very soon! I don’t want to tune in tomorrow and see “Ack4,” ya hear? 🙂

Hmmmm…I will have to try the fruit juice snacks, but I’m racking my brain for an embarrassing food that I eat, but once again…I was one of those kids that discreetly snacked on paste and play-doh (although never at the same time)–does that count?
Emma says
Ah,the good feeling you get after ‘confessing”.That’s what i’m after ! My brother and I developed a strong liking for dog biscuits !At least I’m not alone in my madness. :0)
