Excessive Cat Sentimentality

February 11, 2004

For Wendy’s contest, I was going to dredge up an old post with a cat in it (not hard to do), but in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I’m going to share the cat love, revisiting some of my favorite pictures. Those of you who love cats, enjoy. Those of you who don’t, run away now.

My favorite Digit-sleeping photo:

One that I just took, through my bedroom window — he’s sitting outside in the planter box. (Note to self, put flowers in planter box):

You know how I sleep with Koigu? Adah sleeps with Horstia Tweed:

There’s a lot going on here. Kureyon raglan to the left, surfing blogs to the right, Digit wanting a scritch in the middle. You can just see that I’m wearing my yellow Lo-Tech and devil duck PJs. A good day:

Adah sleeps with a LOT of fiber:

Life is hard:

A special guest appearance, Sebastian. My sister Christy rescued him at age EIGHTEEN. He had been abandoned at the vet’s office, destined to live and die in his cage. A year later, he just had an operation to remove a huge (benign) tumor, and is doing well, considering the circumstances. Keep him in your kitty thoughts:

You made it this far, so here’s the first Cromarty sleeve!

And this captures the color of the Kersti best. Kinda matches my big guy, huh?

Scratches on the head for everyone!

I am so NOT a cat person, and not only because I’m violently allergic. But even my cold anti-feline soul is melted by that shot of Adah sleeping with the Horstia, with her little paw curled under…
I hope you win Wendy’s contest. Then you can make me something with that lovely soft pink alpaca that I covet but cannot win because, as already mentioned, I’m not a cat person.

There’s some sort of mafioso “sleep with the yarn” comment here, but it doesn’t have the same ring to it as “sleeps with the fishes”–‘specially for cats, who like both yarn and fishes. Hooray for the return of MY favorite Digit pic! I get to rub his nose again, yippee!
(again, New Yorker. Chris Ware. Read it, but be prepared.)

oooooh, cute kitties! I have allergic children, so no kitties for me right now. Always good to vicariously enjoy other peoples! Comarty is amazing! Dying to try cabling, but haven’t got to it quite yet….I’m even more intrigued after your photos. Cool. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wowie wow wow what a sleeve! With what size needles? And there I was last night all proud of my 10 inches of Must-have sleeve (even with it’s not-from-a-horse boo-boo). Simply gorgeous. As are the kitties. You’re making me miss old Ethan-head, but that’s OK. Really.

I love kitties and I love cables so today’s entry was heaven on earth for me, Ms. R! I especially like the story about the old rescue kitty. Tell your sister one of your readers thinks she is a special person!

Yay! Cromarty! I’d seen you mention it several times but didn’t actually know what I should be envisioning. It’s way lovely.

I don’t have to tell you how much I love cat photos! All the kitties are gorgeous. A big kiss right on Digit’s nose. Mwah!
The Cromarty sleeve is lovely, too. And you were worried about being slow on those little 1s! You’re superfast, girl.

My heart just melted while enjoying the pictures of your beautiful cats! I would even say that they are comparable in sweetness to my cats, and that is quite a compliment from a rather biased cat mom! Thanks for sharing…

I never would have thought to use Koigu Kersti for Cromarty. That sleeve is stunning!

Huh. I didn’t think anything was cuter than dachshunds in triplicate, but you’ve got some wonderful cat photos here! I love it when you photoblog; you have such an eye for arty (and cat-ty) photos. Thanks for the smiles today!
    P.S. Cromarty. Wow.
