Dude! Go Knitty!
Knitty rocks for so many damn reasons. But this issue is way freakin’ above and beyond. I love like seventy-two of the patterns (okay, a slight exaggeration) and I want the child in Anouk. Forget the (cute) sweater, I just want to kiss those cheeks!
THANK YOU for the NoroCompliments! I’ve decided I won’t put it up on the shelf and let it languish like I do other sweaters – this one’s for wearing. It’s my new alterno-sweatshirt. Yeah.
It’s two in the morning, I’m at work, and my thoughts are jumbled. But have I mentioned you should go read the seven deadly cozies? Honestly can’t remember if I’ve pointed you there, but she’s fabulous — witty, a touch acerbic, and very clever. A new fave.
And hey, would y’all stop posting such funny things? It’s tiring to keep up with all the intelligence and humor out there. Dang. (That’s a complimentary complaint, of course. What I really mean is keep it up.)
So yesterday? I got off shift at nine in the morning, went home, and got in the tub. I’m lying there, happy with my tea and candles and New Yorker, contentedly listening to the kitties playing in the living room. After a good meal, they like to romp, and the noise they make is so cheering to me. I thought to myself, what sweet kitties I have. I’m so lucky.
When I got out of the tub and went into the living room, I discovered what they had been playing with.
A BUNCH OF GRAPES. I had left them in a bowl on my coffee table, hoping to prompt the healthy snacking I’m so poor at. Well! More proof that health food is a bad idea. Do you have any idea how much fun cats can have with grapes on a hardwood floor? I captured a lot of the errant squished drippy grapes, but I’m sure I’ll be finding raisins for months to come…..

Heh. Hee hee. I have this great image of the two of them playing with grapes. Adah: “Won’t she be mad at us?” Digit: “Screw her. Now, catch!”

How’s this for synchronicity it is two oclock here too….just mine is 2pm. Little kitties are such a delight, be thankful that it’s only squshed grapes in this household Florintinas greatest ‘gift’ for me is wee rodent left on the route I take to bathroom in bear feet in the dark…lets just say that large Welsh ladt and small Welsh mouse may momentarily meet but its not me that’s squshed after the encounter – the mouse was dead before my foot arrived but is certainkly VERY dead after it departs :0) By the way can you not just disconnect your door bell when you go to bed in the day, just a thought. Take care, those biorythms will be pretty f**ked by the numonia and now they will be clueless with your new shift so be gentle on your self eh! Love

Hi there. I’ve been reading here for a little while, but this is the first time I’ve commented.
Oh my gosh, I can’t stop laughing… Those kitties of yours sure have some personality…:-)
You always give me something fun to look forward to. So glad you are feeling better. ๐

Don’t even get me started on what cats can do with the tampons that they fished out of your knapsack which you innocently left open on the floor. Thank Gawd I didn’t have any guests visiting at that exact moment!
P.S. Have you ever noticed how much tampons look like mice?

Heheh – Years ago, I got home to find my ex glowering and furious. Seems the cats had found a jar of colored marbles that I used to keep on the kitchen window-sill for the color, and managed to tip it over. And scatter the marbles all over the kitchen floor. Where he walked on them when he got home from work.
But, as I was down on my hands and knees, picking up all the little round glass things, I couldn’t stop chucking, thinking about what fun the cats must have had that day!

Yes, the Retro Prep is perfect alterna-sweatshirt fodder. That’s what I wear mine for and I’m already worried I’m wearing the elbows thin. It looks fab in Noro by the way.

Oy! Great sweater! And a great picture! There you’ve gone and finished yet another one and I’m still stuck at 7 inches of the back of mine for 2 months. (tho I have made a scarf and a cell phone case in the betweentime).
The cats and grapes — too funny! One of mine used to love ping pong balls when she was a wee, tiny kitten. In fact, I used to get a stick, yell “Ready? 1, 2, 3!” and whack the ping pong ball really hard so it bounced against the other living room wall — that cat was all psyched to shoot out like a rocket after the toy by the time I yelled “3!” The poor stick didn’t make it through all the games – had to get a golf club later (see, it’s metal – it lasts longer than wood).

Rachael, today was the first chance I had to look at the new Knitty and I, too, fell in love with Anouk — the child, not only the dress! So I went to the designer’s website (totally blanking on the name, and no way to look it up while I’m in your comments box), and there are MORE pictures of this baby and others — look in the section called “Photos” and just give in to the urge to go “Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!”
There are nothing but great big hulking teenage boys at my house any longer (who do *not* want knitted things to wear), but I think I might have to make Anouk for my new baby niece…
MaryB, still pouting ’cause I’ll be *out* of town when you’re *in* town!
