Now that I’ve been outed by both the Lala and the Feral, I’ll admit it — I did the unthinkable this weekend.
I bought a knitting machine.
This was after taking Nancy Robert’s all-day knitting/dyeing class. Oh, my god, was that fun. You should do it. She taught us machine knitting AND dyeing, all in one day. Can you imagine?
And a knitting machine followed me home. You should have seen how it cried. I had to. Sadly, I’ve been too sick to even open the box yet, and that’s very unlike me, but I have something to look forward to over the weekend.

I’ve had moments of considering a knitting machine. It sure would whip out scarfs and baby blankets quickly. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with it when you feel better. ๐

Good for you! I LOVE my knitting machine (s), I think I have four. I have found it incredibly useful, especially in combination with handknitting! Very exciting!

Oooh, a new toy! That should have you feeling better in no time! Seriously, I hope you kick that bronchitis’ ass back where it belongs in short order so you can play.
jeni says
Ooh. I can’t wait to see what you do with a knitting machine. You better kick that bronchitis to the curb. …sending lots of feel-better-vibes your way.

(gasp!) I’m shocked!
Okay, so I’ll admit they can be practical and all that… good luck with it! And, more importantly, feel better!

Baby, I have a White 1602. I, too, am a sinner.
We should sit around and drink beer and sing sad songs about it one day.
Samantha says
**gasp** Oh the horror! A knitting machine? *wink* … That’s okay, so long as you still knit for real too. ๐
sedie says
Feel better soon so you can impress us with your knitting machine works!
Gwen says
Congratulations on the new toy! It’s all about playing with the fiber and there are so many ways to do it! Now you just need to get rid of the gunk and move on to the “buenos dias” cough every morning.

Now you’ll have a way to get through all your homespun quickly so you can spin some more…..

I really enjoy my knitting machine almost as much as I enjoy hand knitting. They are two different worlds, but they also go hand in hand (if you let them). I go through times where I only hand knit, and then when my hands start hurting, I find a simple machine project to work on. Just think of how easy those Weasley sweaters will be!! LoL

Get well soon so you can post obsessively on how you actually use a knitting machine and the pros and cons of it. ๐ I have often thought about getting one but I dont’ really know what they are good for or how you use one….
Amy says
I want to hear all about your adventures with your new toy! Now working full time and would love something that helps me knit faster. Get better poor dear…
nicole says
Oh, dear. What have you done? I’ll tell you–you got me to immediately call Nancy Roberts and sign up for her next workshop! I have been thinking about learning machine knitting for some time. As far as I’m concerned, it is no sin. Thanks for the inspirado!
Scout says
What FUN! I can’t wait to see what you do with it!
julia fc says
Geez, girl. Don’t be shy. Pictures! Pictures!
I regret letting my mom sell hers off. I wish I’d had the foresight to know that I’ve jealous of yours.
And you can have a row party: everyone gets to do one. Have a blast.
vanessa says
feel better soon! and oh how i wish i could take one of nancy roberts classes.
Teresa says
Feel better soon, Rach!
I’ve been lusting after a Silver Reed LK 150 for several months now. I just need to find the $$ for it. Most likely I’ll have one by the end of February – funded by my income tax return.
If you get a chance, check out my blog and the knitterly dolls my sister made me for my birthday and Christmas.
Big Hug! all the way from Ohio!
NIk says
which machine did you get?
Juno says
Hee. Haven’t picked it up yet, but did the same thing in December.
Always room for one more….
Feel better soon.
john says
You’d be surprised how many people have fantasized about a machine but would never admit it. (myself included)
gaile says
ooo can’t wait to see photos and hear all about it. i’m halfway through two sweaters on mine – i am princess of all things unfinished!
